Niche Structure

This is an example of a project which was project managed by us through our sister company Engineering Architecture Ltd.

We were approached by a local housing association to convert this dilapidated old garage into a dwelling. The first challenge was to make the building structurally safe for conversion and deal with the damp issues. Situated alongside a stream we also had to design parking to bridge the stream and satisfy the requirements of an ordinary water course application.

The new dwelling has its own new internal load bearing masonry walls and a vaulted ceiling over the lounge area. As well as a single bedroom, kitchen and living area the dwelling has a jack and jill bathroom/ ensuite.

Externally we wanted to record the form and colour of the garage doors and so created an elevation built around the proportions of the doors. We then matched the colour of the new cladding to one close to the original garage door colour.
